Choa Chu Kang Stadium, Wednesday, April 22, 2015 — Singapore Sports School emerged with a double win in the B and C Division girls’ 4x100m relay with timings of 49.32 and 50.74 seconds respectively at the 56th National Inter-School Track and Field Championships.
This is their seventh time winning both divisions in the same year.
In the C Division final, Singapore Sports School finished five metres ahead of Cedar Girls’ Secondary, completing the race nearly two full seconds before them. Cedar Girls’ clinched the silver medal in 52.60 seconds while CHIJ St. Nicholas’ Girls’ claimed the bronze in 53.91 seconds.
Similarly, in the B Division final, Singapore Sports School finished about 1.5 seconds ahead of their closest competitors, CHIJ Sec (Toa Payoh). CHIJ Sec (Toa Payoh) were forced to settle for second in 50.81 seconds, while Nanyang Girls’ High finished with the bronze in 51.55 seconds.
“We tried our best to hit the lowest possible timing and even though we think it’s not our fastest race, we gave it our all during the race,” said Singapore Sports School’s C Division team.
They have been training together as a team for the past six months. Last year, the C Division team finished with a 49.94s run while the B Division team completed the race in 49.06s.
