Hougang Sports Hall, Tuesday, April 27, 2015 — Victoria Junior College (VJC) remain undefeated after a 10–0 victory over Catholic Junior College (CJC) in the group stage of the National A Division Boys’ Floorball Championship.

VJC were on the offensive right from the start. After a few misses, Muhammad Haziq (#23) broke through to score the opener. This was closely followed by a second goal from his teammate, Luqmanul Haziq (#4).

Long tactical passes allowed VJC to attack as a cohesive unit. Conversely, CJC’s attack was hindered by inaccurate passing.

Muhammad Haziq (#23) capitalised on CJC’s lapse in defence for the third goal, firing in the shot from distance. Similarly, Issac Chi (#7) scored VJC’s fourth goal from the near the halfway line. Selwin Yong (#2) scored the fifth goal shortly after to end the period with a score of 5–0 in favour of VJC.

In the second period, Muhammad Haziq (#23) fired in yet another shot from distance for VJC’s sixth goal.

CJC repeatedly sent lobs to space in an effort to attack. However, this strategy proved to be unsuccessful as VJC defenders often got to the ball first. They capitalised on this inaccuracy for quick counter-attacks against CJC instead.

A scramble in front of CJC goalkeeper, Ashbel Chioh (#99), gave Muhammad Ariff (#17) the chance to fire in VJC’s seventh goal. In the final 30 seconds of the period, Muhammad Haziq (#23) scored again to make it 8–0.

A tighter CJC defence in the last period gave VJC fewer clear shots at goal. However, despite this, Tan Yuan Rong (#5) cut through the defence to score the ninth goal.

With a one-man advantage after a penalty against CJC, Muhammad Haziq (#23) opted for a short pass to Muhammad Imran (#33). Imran shot it in from the corner to seal VJC’s 10–0 victory.

On the match, VJC’s Selwin Yong (#2), commented, “I think it was what we expected it to be. It was very challenging but I think we really prepared well as a team. This is just the fruits of our labour as I would like to say.”

With this victory, VJC have a total of four wins. CJC will go against Yishun Junior College on May 5 at 12.15 p.m. while VJC will be playing against Raffles Institution at 5.15 p.m. Both matches will be played at Hougang Sports Hall.
