Yishun Sports Hall, Thursday, May 14, 2015 — Yishun Junior College (YJC) cruised to a 5–0 victory over Victoria Junior College (VJC) in the National A Division Girls’ Floorball Championship.
With the victory, YJC clinch third place while VJC settled for fourth. M Vaishnavi (YJC #2), Sabriana Boon (YJC #8), Cheng Xin Yi (YJC #9) and Ong Swee Ling (YJC #29) contributed to the score board.
YJC were the more aggressive team, pushing the ball up-court and firing relentlessly at the VJC goal.
Alicia Chia (YJC #4) and Ong Swee Ling (YJC #29) took multiple shots early in the first period. Their effort eventually proved fruitful when Sabriana Boon (YJC #8) swatted the ball into the net with about two minutes left in the first period to get the supporters on their feet.
Immediately after the opening goal, Cheng Xin Yi (YJC #9) managed to push the ball through the legs of the VJC goalkeeper to give YJC a comfortable 2–0 lead heading into the first period break.
YJC came back with a physical game against VJC after the break, scoring three goals in the second period. A scramble in front of the VJC goal led to a third YJC goal.
Then, Sabriana Boon (YJC #8) took an unexpected shot just after the half court line and the ball went right into the top corner of the net.
Ong Swee Ling (YJC #29) made it 5–0 when she calmly sent the ball into the far corner of the net on an inbound pass, putting YJC firmly in control.
On the other end, VJC could not find a way out of their scoring drought. They barely had any good looks, and struggled against their bigger YJC opponents.
The YJC goalkeeper kept a clean sheet in a goalless final period to help secure third place.
Captain Nur Natasha (YJC # 3) said, “The season was full of ups and downs for us, but I would like to give praise to our team for their team spirit. I am truly proud of the entire team for our achievements.”
Pang Hui Ping (YJC #12) added, “We have already played against VJC once before and I think we played well today. Though VJC did fight back hard in the final period, we still managed to hold our defense together to win the game.”

Not a member in either team but I find your language putting off.
“They barely had any good looks”???
Hi, you spelled the name of someone in yjc wrongly. The correct spelling is PHYLLICIA LIM (#92), but you spelled as PHYLLICA LIM (#92).
Thanks.
The name on the roster has been changed to PHYLLICIA LIM (#92). Thank you for the correction!
