Hougang Sports Hall, Monday, February 1, 2016 — Hillgrove Secondary (HGS) overcame a poor second period to defeat School of Science and Technology (SST) 5-4 and claim their first victory of the National B Division Floorball Championship.

Manfred Chew (HGS #3) was the top scorer with four goals, while Ong Chong Lin (SST #97) led his team with two.

Manfred (HGS #3) scored the first goal with a shot that caught SST goalkeeper Bryan (SST #87) by surprise. Both teams were aggressive, and there were multiple turnovers before the period ended with Hillgrove in the lead at 1-0.

The second period saw SST stepping up as Chong Lin (SST #97) scored two consecutive shots 30 seconds apart. Hillgrove pulled ahead again but a long-range shot by Harisankara (SST #6) pulled SST back into a 3-3 tie.

SST got the lead back when a point-blank shot by Arkar (SST #10) zipped past Hillgrove goalkeeper Muhammad Hafiz (HGS #99) made it 4-3.

In the final period, a long-range shot from Manfred (HGS #3) evened the score at 4-4. Manfred (HGS #3) scored again to make it 5-4 to finally seal the game for Hillgrove.

Hillgrove captain Muhammad Fariz (#3) said, “It was a good match, as we listened to our coach. We can still work on our teamwork and communication.”
