OCBC Arena, Monday, February 15, 2016 — Anglo-Chinese School (Barker Road) defeated Queensway Secondary 62-25 to end Queensway’s chances of qualifying for the semi-finals of the South Zone B Division Basketball Championship.

With the victory, ACS (Barker) remained undefeated in the Championship and improved to 2-0 in round 2. Queensway’s chances of progression were ended with their 2nd straight defeat in the round.

ACS (Barker) got balanced contributions from their key players in the victory. Big man Lavin Raj (#10) finished with 18 points while wing players Sherman Seet (#11) and Dinesh Rajandhran (#2) bagged 19 and 16 points respectively. Queensway #13 had a team-high 8 points in the defeat.

ACS (Barker) came into the game fresh-off a 42-point victory over Peicai Secondary and were clearly the more confident side.

In a game which ACS (Barker) employed a full-court press throughout, Queensway were no match for their opponents. The team in white had too many turnovers to have even a crack at their clearly superior opponents.

Huge 2nd and 4th quarter performances from ACS (Barker), in which they hit the 20-point mark, saw them easily run out 62-25 winners.

ACS (Barker) are now joint leaders of Group P alongside Fairfield Methodist and Yuying Secondary with two wins apiece. They will next face Yuying Secondary, before their showdown against Fairfield Methodist, with the winners likely to take top spot in the group.

Queensway will play Fairfield, another undefeated team, in their next match.
