Singapore Basketball Centre, Wednesday, May 4, 2016 – Anderson Junior College (AJC) defeated Meridian Junior College (MJC) 48-27 in their opening Round 2 game of the National A Division Basketball Championship.
AJC remain undefeated and have a 6-0 win-loss record. MJC, who finished Round 1 with a 4-1 record, drop to 4-2 for the season.
The game started off at a slow pace. At the 4-minute mark, AJC led 5-4. The quarter ended with AJC in the lead at 8-6.
In the 2nd quarter, AJC regrouped and managed to take control of the game. They played more aggressively and managed to intercept many passes. By the 5-minute mark, AJC led 13-6. At half time, AJC led 18-10.
AJC continued their momentum in the 3rd quarter, pouring in 12 points to MJC’s six to lead 30-16 heading into the 4th.
MJC did not back down in the 4th quarter. They continued to fight hard for every ball to close the deficit. Two minutes into the quarter, MJC reduced the AJC lead to eight points (22-30).
However, AJC did not allow MJC to catch up. They extended their lead to 41-24 with 4 minutes left on the clock before taking the 48-27 win.
AJC will play Hwa Chong Institution next while MJC will face Raffles Institution.
