Can Singapore set a new record for the longest futsal match? We'll find out soon at the Community Sports Festival@Northeast. Organised by the Constituency Sports Club Council and Constitutency Sports Clubs in the north-east, the aim is to have over 200 teams playing futsal continuously for 56 hours. The effort will be validated by the Singapore Book of Records.

"This is the first time we are holding the event," said Mr Dick Hui, who chairs the organising committee, and futsal was picked "because soccer is the most popular game, and everyone is interested in it." There is currently no Singapore futsal record, but the organisers are aiming for 56 hours of continuous play. "We wanted to set something that is not easy to beat," explained Mr Hui.

Besides being part of a record-breaking attempt, it might whet your appetite to know that the players also get to participate in a lucky draw, and the prize is a return ticket to London, plus a ticket to watch the English FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium!

Each team should comprise at least 5 players, and you can register at PA’s website and all community clubs.
