Siloso Beach, Sentosa, Thursday, July 2, 2009 - Singapore fell 0-2 to Kyrgyzstan in the Asian Youth Games (AYG) Beach Volleyball competition this morning.
Singapore’s pair of Dorita Peng and Tan Yi Ting could not hold back the powerful pair of Sabrina Azizova and Olga Kozlova of Kyrgyzstan.
Unlike the win against Mongolia yesterday, the girls found themselves trailing the Kyrgyzstan girls early and had to call a timeout early to collect their thoughts.
However, plagued by miscommunication on court and Dorita’s sprained right knee injury, the set ran away from them and they lost it 13-21.
The situation did not improve in the second set with the Singapore pair struggling to find the range of the court with spikes and returns going out. The unforced errors cost them the second set 15-21.
Bad line calls seem to have thrown them off their game.
Yi Ting said, “We lost an important point in the second set due to a controversial judgment. That was a major setback for myself and Dorita.”
Commented their coach Teo Chiek Shan: “The girls followed the strategies well enough but mistakes in the game are unpredictable. Also, with Dorita still nursing a knee injury, there were some restrictions to her agility and speed during the game.”

Its okay, this is just a field for team sg to gain experience. Its just 2months of training from both team what can you expect. Go team sg!
just dont be sour grapes. why not you two go and play and win a medel for singapore. dont just sit there and say its a shame. other players are taller and they train much more than singaporeans. whats more, they are indoor players. format of playing is different.
aren’t there any more beach players in SG? Ashamed to even go and watch our very own team in action….
Quite a shame… Kyrgyzstan is land-locked!
