Jaipur, India, Thursday, July 23, 2009 - Singapore's Junior (U-18) Boys and Girls Teams and the Cadet (U-15) Boys and Girls have crashed out of the 15th Asian Junior Table Tennis Championships after failing to qualify for the main draw in Day Two of the competition. All four Singapore teams have now been knocked out.

The Junior Boys Team, with Pang Xue Jie, Lim Jie Yan, Chong Hur Ying Darren and Benjamin Teo, beat Pakistan 3-0 (3-2, 3-0, 3-1) on Day Two of the Championship. After notching one win and two losses on Day 1, they needed to overcome Hong Kong to have a chance at qualification. However, they slipped to their opponents 0-3 (1-3, 2-3, 2-3) in a hotly contested match, finishing fourth in Group A.

The Junior Girls Team, consisting Samantha Wong, Sylvia Look, Kwa Hui Qi and Chng Rui Min lost both their matches against Japan (0-3) and North Korea (1-3). With three losses and one win, they also finish in fourth place in Group A.

The Cadet Boys Team, consisting Terry Tan, Chau Jia Liang and Clarence Chew failed to notch a win as they finished last in Group B behind Korea, Chinese Taipei, India and Sri Lanka. They lost 3-0 (2-3, 1-3, 0-3) to South Korea and India 1-3 on Day Two of the Championship.

The Cadet Girls Team, consisting Isabelle Li, Lam Teng Si and Chau Hai Qing narrowly missed out on their chances at qualification, slipping to Hong Kong 2-3 (0-3, 3-0, 1-3, 3-1, 1-3). They were of no match to China as they fell 0-3 (0-3, 0-3, 1-3) to the powerhouse, eventually finishing fourth in Group A.

The Junior teams will continue to play in the losers bracket for positions 9-11 whereas the Cadet teams see their campaign come to and end.
