Low Guan Liang, John Lee and Kelvin Liew were the three lucky winners who were picked in a Red Sports reader contest for three pairs of adidas F-50i boots. The contest drew 425 entries.
The happy winners went to the adidas Singapore office a few weeks ago to get their prize and Red Sports met them there.
“My first impression of the boots – stunned by the colour,” wrote Low Guan Liang, 17, whose brother Low Feng Hua came to collect his boots on his behalf because he had training. Guan Liang, who has been reading Red Sports for about two years now, didn’t expect to win.
When we contacted him a few days after he got his boots, he still hadn’t used his new boots.
“I didn’t use it yet cos it looks so nice that I want to display in my cupboard!”
As for John Lee, 18, he didn’t think the contest was for real but the win changed his mind.
“Believe me, people, REDSPORTS IS FOR REAL. IT IS NOT A SCAM!” wrote John in an email reply. “Frankly speaking, I participated in the contest just to “play” for fun. I didn’t really believe until I was given the boots personally by Uncle Les at the adidas office. ROFL.”
As for the boots, he was gushing about the look.
“The boots look cool and awesome. The colour is especially eye-catching,” he wrote. “It was wonderful when I was holding the boots in my hands. The feeling was like ‘is this for real?'”
John found out about Red Sports when he was searching for results on the National Inter-School A Division Football Championships earlier this year.
Unlike the rest, our third winner, Kelvin Liew, didn’t wait too long to try out his new boots.
“I wore it to play with my friends. The touch of the ball on my feet is heavenly! Made me feel like a star,” said the 18-year-old who didn’t expect to win as he was just trying his luck. “It’s great to have this pair of boots! Especially when it’s worn by Lionel Messi!”
Kelvin has been reading Red Sports for a bout a year after his friends introduced him to the site.
