Yio Chu Kang Stadium, Monday, August 17, 2009 – Anglo-Chinese School (Barker Road) beat St Andrew’s Secondary 17-10 in the semi-final of the C Division Rugby Championship.
Rain poured down at 2.45pm and it seemed almost impossible for any match to go on. However, after half an hour, the sky cleared up and the match was on.
Saints supporters filled up almost two-thirds of the stadium, shouting cheers and praises.
The Saints, favourites to proceed to the final, warmed up in the rain and looked strong and ready to play. ACS(BR), however, looked passive and they were sitting at the steps listening to their coach’s instructions.
Both teams stepped onto the field moments after and after 7 minutes into the game, Maurice (#27) of ACS(BR), with the help of his teammates, managed to score a try. An excellent conversion was made by teammate Lu Chuan Yi (#8).
Repeated scrums and line-outs followed that try till the end of the first half with the score stagnant at 7-0.
In the second half, Mitchell (#13) of ACS(BR) extended the lead to 12-0 with a try within the first 10 minutes.
The Saints refused to admit defeat, and fought back with a try just 5 minutes later to make it 12-5.
With 15 minutes left, it was still anyone’s game and tensions were raised.
The game exploded with two tries in the last five minutes. Howard (#14) of ACS(BR) went over to make it 17-5 but Saints again replied with a try of their own but that was all they could muster as they went down 10-17.
ACS (Barker) will now play ACS (Independent) in the final at CCAB on Friday, August 21, 4.30pm.

I’m sure saints will win next year
-acs player:
It’s just that when Barker lost to Raffles , and Raffles lost to Saints, people automatically assume that Barker will lose to Saints. No offence intended.
Does everyone think that acs barker cannot win saints?
