Western Australia edge out Territory Storm 51-49 in Australia Netball League

Toa Payoh Sports Hall, Saturday, August 22, 2009 – Western Australia maintained their unbeaten run in Round 5 of the Australia Netball League as they edged out Territory Storm 51-49.

It was a close match event from the start of the game. Both Western Australia and Territory Storm fought hard to gain a lead. Territory Storm quickly matched up to their opponents and took the opportunity to convert their shots. They ended the quarter with a scoreline of 13-15.

Western Australia came back strong in the second quarter to take the lead within four minutes into the quarter. They did not let their opponents, who were working hard, stop their flow in their attack. Western Australia ended the second quarter with a comfortable six goal lead.

Territory Storm fought hard to make a comeback as they took the court strongly after the half-time. However, it was still not enough to go up against Western Australia’s constant attacking. Western Australia eventually won the quarter with a four goal lead.

In the last quarter, which was also the most exciting one of the match, Western Australia seemed to have lost their composure in the first few minutes. Territory Storm took every opportunity to defend and convert their shots, forcing the game into a 42-42 draw with eight minutes to go.

However, Western Australia fired up and took back the lead. Time was not at Territory Storm’s side and the final whistle was soon blown, with Western Australia taking the honour of winner. Final score: 51-49.
