CCAB, Tuesday, May 6, 2008 – 2007 second runner-up Temasek Junior College beat St Andrew’s Junior College in straight sets (25-14, 25-9) at an A Division Boys Volleyball Championship match this week. TJC have already booked themselves a place in the semi-finals together with defending champions Nanyang Junior College even though both still have one match to go.
Anderson Junior College were up against Pioneer Junior College in a tense match which would see the victor take pole position in Group Y. In the end, Anderson JC overcame the resistance from Pioneer JC to win 2-0.
The second match was between Hwa Chong Institution and Victoria Junior College. Both had lost their first game in the second round to PJC and AJC respectively and both desperately needed to win this game. With their supporters rallying behind them, the HCI team managed a close win in straight sets to bring their win-loss record to 1-win-1-loss.
In the game between TJC and SAJC, there was much less tension as compared to the first two matches played during that afternoon. After a close start, Temasek JC managed to hold on to a 2-point lead and build momentum. They soon earned several successive points to seal the first set 25-14. Keeping their morale high, Temasek JC racked up points with serve after serve to finish off SAJC 25-9.
Last year’s winner Nanyang JC also brushed off their opponents Tampines JC in the last match of the afternoon. Together with TJC, the NYJC team also has a win-loss record of 2-0.
Temasek JC and Nanyang JC will face each other in the last match in the second round this Thursday (May 9). This match will determine who will qualify as champions of Group X and hence meet the runner-up of Group Y.

Go NYJC! Lucas e best Open Spiker in A Division!
it meant to be NYJC. Sorry for the typo.
Nanyang JC shld be put as NYJC, instead of the NJC in this article, if not i’t’ll be easily mixed up with National JC. Hope to prevent any confusion for readers. =)
if i’m not wrong, it is hci #7 that taps the ball over vjc at picture 7
Nice composition work, Ting Shan, except for photo 6, which has too much head room.
All elements that go into making a good sports photo are there: player, opponent, ball.
Photo 10 is a very nice profile shot. The netball net in the background spoils it slightly but sometimes you can’t help it.
Photo 5 and 9 are the best in terms of the timing. You got the picture at the right point in the spike sequence.
