Republic Polytechnic Sports Complex, Friday, October 23, 2009 – The combined Institute of Technical Education (ITE) boys’ floorball team kicked off their season with a 6-2 win over Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP) in the Polytechnic-Institute of Technical Education (POL-ITE) Floorball Championship.
The ITE scored the game’s opening goal through Abdul Haqem (#21) when he received a pass from Shariff Abdul Rahman (#31) inside two minutes of the start.
The ITE then doubled their lead through Muhammad Hamka (#32) with a crisp shot off an Aloysius Tan (#22) assist. And the game had not even passed the six-minute mark.
The ITE continued on their streak with a goal by yet another different scorer in Muhd Syazi (#25) as they closed out the first period with a 3-0 cushion.
There was to be no relenting from the ITE team as they started the second period. Muhd Radziman Putra (#29) made it 4-0 with an assist by Tan Kian Tat (#45).
Barely a minute after that goal, ITE found their fifth when Anas Abd (#28) made a cross for Muhd Syazi to score his second goal of the game.
The third period saw a resurgence from NP as Ahmad Fattah Salim got them off the mark with a goal just past the half-hour mark, bringing the score to 5-1.
Buoyed by the goal, NP continued on their attacks and were rewarded for their efforts when Jovyn Low (#11) scored off a pass by Ahmad Fattah to cut the deficit to three.
Working to end the game off on a high, Muhd Syazi once again found the net for a hat-trick to wrap the game up 6-2 for ITE.
