Presbyterian High School, Tuesday, March 2, 2010 - In the other Group D match, Dunman Secondary survived an initial scare by Woodlands Ring Secondary to win 2-0 (25-15, 25-18) at the National B Division Girls Volleyball Championship.
Dunman started off shakily and the score was neck and neck. Woodlands Ring were hot on the heels of Dunman, but strong serves from Jia En (Dunman #2) kept them opponents at bay. Leading at 24-15, Huijie (Dunman #7) forced a touch out from Woodlands Ring with her serve to see her team take the first set.
The second set started off in a similar fashion with the score extremely close. Woodlands Ring were not going to let Dunman take the game easily, and proved difficult to put down. However, Dunman still got the better of them with players Jia En (Dunman #2) and Weiyu (Dunman #3) delivering winning spikes.
At 24-18, Weiyu (Dunman #3) took home the last point for her team when she successfully blocked an attack from Woodlands Ring.
Dunman and Woodlands Ring are drawn in a tough Group D together with Cedar Girls’ Secondary and Bukit Panjang Government High. Like Dunman, Cedar Girls’ have one win to their name after they beat Bukit Panjang 2-0 (25-21, 25-22) in an earlier match.
The next Group D match will be held on Thursday, March 4 at 12pm where Dunman will play Bukit Panjang. Cedar will play Woodlands Ring Secondary at 12.50pm on the same day. All B and C Division Girls matches will be held at Presbyterian High School.
