Presbyterian High School, Monday, March 8, 2010 - Woodlands Ring Secondary came from behind to beat Bukit Panjang Government High 2-1 in a Group D match of the National B Division Girls Volleyball Championship.
Both teams were tied at one set each, and Bukit Panjang seemed like the favourites to win after holding a 16-8 lead over Woodlands Ring in the third set. However, Woodlands Ring fought back, with their #8, Trudie scoring several points in the rallies. Woodlands Ring finally tied at 17-17 after a good spike from Trudie (Woodlands Ring #8).
A well-placed serve by Xin Lerk (Woodlands Ring #15) saw Woodlands Ring turn the tables on the 2009 third-runners up. From then on, they did not look back as they raked in point after point. Woodlands Ring were soon at match point, and took the last set 25-22 after the Bukit Panjang #17 spiked into the net.
Drawn together with Cedar Girls’ and Dunman Secondary, both Woodlands Ring and Bukit Panjang were already out of the Nationals prior to the match. Woodlands Ring have one win and two losses, while Bukit Panjang have three losses.
