Serangoon Junior College, Thursday, March 25, 2010 – Vizshnu Mohan was the star as Serangoon Junior College (SRJC) staged a smash-and-grab to shock pre-tournament favourites Anglo-Chinese Junior College (ACJC) 2-0 in Group C.
The home team were two goals up within the first 10 minutes of the game before ACJC knew what hit them.
SRJC Captain Cheah Wenbin's hopeful long ball caused havoc in the ACJC defence, allowing leggy striker Vizshnu Mohan to steal in and take advantage of the confusion to slot home after only three minutes of the game played.
The second did not take too long to come. In similar fashion, a ball over the top fell to Vizshnu, and the second-year student who sat out the tournament last year due to a medical condition, kept his composure to claim his third goal in two games.
The ACJC players rallied and tried to stage a comeback. In spite of some tenacious defending by the home side, ACJC managed to carve out several good chances, but the goal their build-up play deserved never arrived and with the dangerous Vizshnu Mohan always a threat, they might even have lost by a bigger margin.
With six points in the bag, SRJC have emerged as the dark horses in this year's championship, while ACJC now need to win all their remaining games to ensure qualification.
