National Inter-School Gymnastics Championships 2007
‘B’ Division Boys Vault Final

Wang Ren Fei of Hwa Chong Institution (HCI) bagged the gold medal in the ‘B’ Division Vault during the National Inter-School Gymnastics Championships held at Bishan Sports Hall on Friday, 20th July.

After a series of qualifiers on the previous day, Ren Fei made it to the finals together with seven other competitors. Coming in at full speed, he did a spectacular leap and somersault in the air before making an almost perfect landing to gain a score of 8.95.

Dosmond Chen of Zhonghua Secondary came in second with 8.50 while Timothy Tay, also from HCI, took the bronze with a score of 8.25.

This is Ren Fei’s last year competing in the ‘B’ Division. Training six times a week for four hours each time, he commented that he had high expectations of winning.

Ren Fei won golds in the Parallel Bars, Pommel, Vault, Still Rings and Floor Exercise and bagged the silver for the High Bars event for a total of four golds and one silver. His impressive tally made him the Individual All-Round Champion for the ‘B’ Division.
