Hi Red Sports readers and athletes,
Last night, Red Sports crossed the 600,000 page-view mark. That means, a total of 600,000 pages were viewed on this web site since 1st February 2007. Thanks for contributing to these awesome numbers for the site.
As some of you have read on this web site, the costs have exceeded $15,000 year-to-date. I’ve got 5 subscribers and 1 donation to date. I’ve set a fundraising target of $16,000 to be raised by the end of this calendar year. You can see the ChipIn widget in the middle column (figure in USD). If you click on it, it will bring you to a page where you can chip in using PayPal or debit/credit cards.
The numbers got so high at one point that I was asked to vacate my first server host and move to another. The new server landlord then gave me a bill for USD 1,080 for a huge traffic spike in May. So after having posted hundred of stories (505 stories since 1 February 07, a rate of 2-3 stories a day) and thousands of pictures on redsports.sg, it was time to have RedSports Shop to help with the running of this site.
If you can afford 30 cents a day, please help support Red Sports by getting a subscription. However, I am not going to restrict content to subscribers only. Why? Because I think the whole point of this site is for many people to read about it to support school athletes. So treat the subscription as a donation to keep this site going. If you take up a 6-month subscription, you can get two digital master files worth $96 for free.
I think one of the best things to get as an athlete is a picture of yourself in action. So if you have a teammate who’s having a birthday and his or her picture is featured in the Picture Gallery or in the posted stories, you can buy a licence for the picture. After your payment is received, I’ll email you the digital master, and you can then go and get it printed at your local neighbourhood store. Then knock him out with an 8R or even 12R picture of himself.
Thanks for your support.

Thanks wbb! Found it.
Thanks for all your support, wbb and statistician.
I reproduce here a comment from coach Dick Yip that was posted in another section of the website:
To further help sustain this site may I propose the following suggestions:-
1. Each school or JC consider donating a $ 100 subsription pa. It is peanuts in a school’s overall budget but what Les and Redsports is doing is actually for the benefit mainly of school sports and school athletes.
2. The four Secondary Zone School Sports Council ( N,S,E,W ) can consider making a goodwill donation as a council.
3. The Singapore Sports Council should grant an annual subsidy as it has the funds for such a noble mission.
4. Many wealthy and rich patrons are funding numerous good causes and projects regularly such as CC sport activities, grassroot activities, etc. to the tune of thousands of dollars. They may not be aware of the existence of Redsports. If any of you readers out there are in contact with such good persons you could tell them about this project.
5. Foundations such as the SHAW Foundation and the LEE Foundation ,just to name two, are generally very supportive of such worthy endeavours. Anyone can assist?
6. Singapore Pools…. another good source of grants.
7. Philantropic clubs…..Rotary Club, Lions Club, Jaycees etc…
Whatever it is or maybe, if we all do our little bit we can help sustain this most worthwhile venture and help Leslie defray his operating costs.
My warmest Congrats to all involved!
