Jakarta, Indonesia, Monday, July 5, 2010 — Singapore’s Lam Chih BIng finished today’s round at 6 under while Thailand’s Panewat Muenlek and Indonesia’s Sarmilih KZ finished at 5 under and 4 under respectively.
By an interesting stroke of coincidence, Panuwat and Sarmilih are in the same flight as Chih Bing.
Despite the beautiful backdrop, players are fiercely battling for the coveted opportunity in this two-day tournament to compete in the first ever PGA tournament taking place in the South East Asia. Most of the players were pleased with their overall performance today despite some not having had the opportunity for a practice round on the competition greens prior to today’s rounds because of time constraints.
“I thought I played really solid today and got off to a good start. I was trying very hard to get a couple more birdies coming in but unfortunately couldn’t do that. I just tried my best to beat everyone else with today being the first day. I’m generally quite happy with everything and looking forward to tomorrow,” Chih Bing.
Panuwat, who trails in second, commented: “It was really good. The only thing I’d like to improve is my putting. This isn’t my first time playing on this green and so I don’t really have a plan coming in for this tournament. I just want to play and enjoy the game.”
Off the back of today’s serendipitous draw, the top three players from today will once again have each other for company and be the last ones to tee off tomorrow in the final group.
Tomorrow’s tee off begins at 7am with the prize presentation directly after the final round.
