Message from APSN

Once upon a time, a small boy was born in the island of sunny Singapore. His name was Jon. He looked like any other adorable baby. He giggles when his mother makes funny faces and cries when he is hungry.

Slowly, Jon grew up. But his growth was unlike other children. He took a longer time to learn how to walk and talk. When he entered kindergarten, the difference was clear. Jon was learning his alphabet and numbers more slowly than his peers.

Worried, his mother brought him to the doctor. It was only then that Jon was diagnosed with mild intellectual disability. Exasperated, his mother started to seek help and this was when The Association for Persons with Special Needs (APSN) became Jon’s guiding light in life.

The APSN is holding a Charity Street Soccer Competition.

You can form a team of 8 players (or a minimum 5) and take part.

APSN is building a new school complex for its Delta Senior School, so as to provide a more conducive environment for its students. The charity street soccer competition will help to raise funds for the new school building.

This is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy yourself, bond with your friends and support a meaningful cause.

About APSN
The Association for Persons with Special Needs (ASPN) is an organization that caters to people with intellectual disabilities from the age of 7 to adulthood. Under APSN, Jon will be provided with a holistic approach in his development of academic, vocational and social skills. Although people with intellectual disability can take a longer time to grasp literacy and numeracy skills, APSN equips them with the right foundation to ensure that they fulfill their fullest potential. People with intellectual disabilities can be very talented in many areas such as: painting sculpting, music and sports. For Jon who excels in sports, soccer became his goal in life.
