Scape Youth Park, Sunday, August 15, 2010 — Singapore lost both their opening matches of the FIBA 33 basketball competition in the Youth Olympic Games.
The girls team went down 22-33 to Germany. Hannah Ng led Singapore with seven points, with Alanna Lim, Tok Hui Min and Zoe Eng contributing six, five and four respectively. Singapore trailed 15-22 at half time.
The boys lost 17-25 to Central African Republic. Jabez Su scored nine points while Russel Low and Larry Liew had five and three.
Rebounding played a huge role in the outcome of both games. Singapore’s boys were out-rebounded 6-16, while the count was 6-17 for the girls, including a whopping 10-1 advantage on the offensive glass for the Germans.
