Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Tuesday, 7 October, 2008 – In a thrilling encounter, Temasek Polytechnic (TP) edged out Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP) 4-3 in a women's Polytechnic-Institute of Technical Education (POL-ITE) Floorball Championship match. Only a penalty towards to the end of the match separated the teams. TP generally led for most of the match only for to have NP equalise soon after.

In the first period, TP started off well and made their intent known by taking control of the game and soon scored, taking the early lead. As the match progressed, NP did not lose hope and kept trying to score as well. The NP #19 seized a rare opportunity and made it count with their first attempt at goal to even the game up at 1-1.

With the game tied, the mens teams from each school started cheering for their respective schools, bringing more life into the game. Shouts of, "We want GOAL!" could be heard from the stands.

Both teams were forced to be on their guard as they tried to score another goal to undo the tie. However, the goalkeepers from both teams were equally strong and managed to stop any scoring attempts and the first period ended 1-1.

The second period started with TP scoring a quick goal to take the lead at 2-1. The goal forced NP into action and a few NP players made a few speculative shot attempts. Unfortunately, they were unable to break down the TP defence. Upon realising that they shouldn’t rush their shots, they had the patience to eventually score another goal and equalise at 2-2.

Not to be outdone, the TP #10 scored another goal to give her team the lead once again at 3-2 to end the second period.

Knowing it was their last shot at the game, NP began to throw everything they had at TP during the final period. It wasn't long before the NP #8 quickly scored the goal to equalise again at 3-3.

With the game heading for a draw, NP defense of a goal mouth scramble resulted in a penalty for TP. The resulting penalty pitted the TP #47 against the NP goalkeeper. All eyes were on her as they knew that if she scored, it was definitely over for NP. After a last few words from each of their coaches, both stood in their position, focused on the task ahead. TP #47 confidently made the shot which sailed past the keeper to give TP a slim 4-3 lead over their opponents.

Without much time left, the NP players tried many attempts to score a goal. Anxious looks filled their faces as they desperately looked for a way to score but none of their shots found the mark and they eventually went down 3-4 to TP.
