India, Thursday, October 7, 2010 — Swimmer Dzulhaili Mohd Kamal carried on his good form in the 19th Commonwealth Games when he clocked his third personal best (PB) in four days.
The 16-year-old Singapore Sports School student broke the 57-second barrier for the first time in the 100 metres Butterfly when he clocked 56.82 seconds in the heats today, bettering his PB of 57.06 set at June’s national championships.
A butterfly specialist, Dzulhaili lowered his PBs in two other disciplines earlier this week. On Monday, he was timed at 27.60s to qualify for the 50m Backstroke semi-finals. Yesterday, he swam the 100m Freestyle in 52.97 seconds to break his PB of 53.12.
Dzulhaili clocked a time of 25.82s in the 50m Butterfly on Tuesday. He holds the current national under-17 record, which stands at 25.57.
Richard Chng became the only other Singaporean swimmer, besides Dzulhaili, to advance from the heats. The 20-year-old was 15th overall in the 50m Breaststroke today, although his time of 31.33 was off his season’s best of 30.77.
