Singapore's Adeline Winata and Pang Sheng Jun advanced from the heats of an individual event for the first time, on the fourth day of swimming action in the Youth Olympic Games.
Rainer Ng won his 50m backstroke semi-final with a new national record of 26.37 seconds. It was the second fastest overall time, and this makes him the first Singaporean swimmer to make the final of an individual event.
In the Men’s 4 x 100m Freestyle Relay, Singapore’s quartet of Arren Quek, Pang Sheng Jun, Rainer Ng and Clement Lim made the cut for this evening's final, with a time of 3 minutes 28.66 seconds. Clement had an astouding anchor leg split of 50.55 seconds.
Singapore's Timothy Tay finished in 36th place in the qualification rounds for the men’s Individual All-Around event at the Youth Olympic Games gymnastics competition.
Singapore’s Cheryl Lim and Rainer Ng failed to qualify for the finals in the Women’s 50m breaststroke and Men’s 100m backstroke respectively.
The team, represented by Clement Lim, Arren Quek, Amanda Lim and Adeline Winata were placed 12th overall and did not qualify for tonight's final.
Cheryl clocked a time of 33.82 seconds in the women's 50 metre Breaststroke to finish 16th fastest overall, while Rainer was eighth quickest in the men's 100m Backstroke with his time of 57.50.
Dark horses Jurong Secondary beat previously-undefeated Unity Secondary 44-38 to move on to the National Girls' B Division Basketball Championship semi-finals.
