Daryl Tan claimed the first ever Youth Olympic Games (YOG) medal for Singapore after falling to world champion Rezaei Kaveh of Iran 12-0 in the semifinal of the Men Under 55kg Category. Daryl took home the bronze medal and prior to that, beat Burmese Shein Naing Dwe Shein 6-4 to qualify for the semifinal. On the other hand, his compatriot Nur Zakirah Zakaria was defeated by Canadian Melanie Phan 15-6. Losing on the home ground, Zakirah teared after her game.
