National B Div Floorball: Victoria School and East Spring take turns to lead in intense match with score of 8-8

The scoreline says it all. In one of the most intense matches of the B Division Boys' Floorball preliminary round, Victoria School (VS) and East Spring Secondary (ESS) went head-to-head in a game of bob and weave, each team refusing to be defeated. With a draw of 8-8, VS managed to claim top spot in the grouping, while ESS secured second position. Nevertheless, both teams advanced to the semi-finals on April the fourth.

C Div 100m: Sports School’s Samantha Ortega and ACS(I)’s Xavier Tan complete sprint double

Just a few days earlier, the two emerged as champions in their C Division 200-metres finals. The stands at the National Stadium saw a similar show of brilliance as Anglo-Chinese School (Independent)'s Xavier Tan and Singapore Sports School's (SSP) Samantha Ortega found gold yet again at the 60th National Schools Track and Field Championships, this time in the highly anticipated 100m finals.

B Div 2000m Steeplechase: Loh Wei Long of Yuan Ching Secondary rises above giants to seize gold

Stopping the clock at a personal best of 6 minutes and 54.53 seconds, Loh Wei Long of Yuan Ching Secondary (YCS) stood tallest atop the podium among the traditional powerhouses of track after taking on the B Division Boys' 2000 metres steeplechase final at the 60th National Schools Track and Field Championships. This was only the second time that Wei Long has competed in the steeplechase but he remained unfazed as he seized his first individual gold -- which was also the only gold that Yuan Ching Secondary garnered at the meet -- while breaking his personal best which was set at 7:02.17 during the heats. Aeron Young and teammate Jonathan Yeong of Hwa Chong Institution (HCI) finished seconds behind of the victor with timings of 6:58.49 and 6:59.39 respectively, clinching silver and bronze for their school.

B Div 800m: Emily Ong of SCGS clinches gold with fastest timing since 2011

The last stretch of the B Division Girls' 800-metres final saw Emily Ong of Singapore Chinese Girls' School (SCGS) pushing across the track to hit top speed and secure gold in a swift 2 minutes and 24.53 seconds. Her timing is the fastest clocked in the girls' B Division in eight years, since Ranjitha Raja and Wendy Enn recorded 2:22.02 and 2:23.03 respectively in the 2011 final.

B Div 3000m: Kylie Tan of Cedar Girls’ makes comeback to defend championship

Having accepted the loss of her 1500-metres championship two weeks ago, Cedar Girls' Kylie Tan was placing her hopes on topping the B Division Girls' 3000m final at the 60th National Schools Track and Field Championships. The Secondary 4 student bagged home a double gold for both events last year, and refused to settle on failure in defending her 1500m throne. This time, she decided to set aside her past failure.

C Div 3000m: Eryka Anna Pasupathy of Cedar Girls’ strikes first-ever individual gold

Just three days before, she bagged home her first silver during the C Division Girls' 1500-metres final at the 60th National Schools Track and Field Championships. In the 3000m final, Eryka Anna Kerner Pasupathy of Cedar Girls' Secondary then rose to the occasion to clinch her first individual gold medal with a winning timing of 13 minutes and 01.08 seconds.

C Div 3000m: Team spirit spurs HCI’s Jacob Tan and Dai Hexuan to 1-2 finish

"It doesn't matter who finished first or second. One-two finish is the best result for the team, and we will do anything to get it." In saying that, it is without a doubt that Hwa Chong Institution (HCI)'s Dai Hexuan held nothing but confidence as he and teammate Jacob Tan finished only four seconds apart during the C Division boys' 3000 metres final at the 60th National Schools Track and Field Championships. While the duo were taking turns throughout the race to lead the pack, Jacob concluded the race first in a winning timing of 10 minutes and 29.47 seconds. Following close behind were Hexuan and Raffles Institution (RI)'s Jonathan Tan, with timings of 10:33.62 and 10:35.66 respectively.

B Div 200m: Nanyang Girls’ Bernice Liew seizes gold in 26.02s

In Secondary One, she finished third in the C Division 200-metres final. In Secondary Two and Three, she improved to finish second. This time, Bernice Liew of Nanyang Girls' High School (NYGH) topped the B Division Girls' 200m final at the 60th National Schools Track and Field Championships with a winning time of 26.02 seconds. Following just a few strides behind is Thaarani D/O Sivakumar of Singapore Sports School and Choo Hui Xin of Cedar Girls' Secondary, who secured a spot on the podium with timings of 26.34 and 26.57 respectively.
