B Division Girls’ Volleyball: Cedar Girls’ defeat Presbyterian High to deny St Hilda’s a place in second round of nationals

Few would have anticipated this result. But in a dramatic twist of fate, Cedar Girls’ made perhaps the biggest upset in the National Rounds so far when they beat Presbyterian High 2-0 (25-22, 25-19) in their final Group D match of the National B Division Girls’ Volleyball Championship. Their crucial win essentially denied St Hilda’s a place in the next round based on point difference. St Hilda’s, who were widely expected to progress together with Presbyterian High after beating Cedar Girls’ in their first match, were held 2-1 by Hua Yi (25-19, 21-25, 25-12) in their earlier match.

B Division Girls’ Volleyball: Jurong hold off Xinmin to top Group B; Dunman qualify for second round with win over Yuying

Jurong Secondary made a comeback in the second set to hold off Xinmin Secondary 2-0 (25-12, 25-21) in their final Group B match at the National B Division Girls’ Volleyball Championship. In the other group match, Dunman Secondary saw off Yuying Secondary 2-0 (25-7, 25-20) to earn a spot in the second round of the competition. With their win, Jurong take top spot in the group whereas Dunman finish second.

B Division Girls’ Volleyball: Fairfield Methodist sweep aside Ngee Ann to top Group C

Fairfield Methodist took top spot of Group C after seeing off Ngee Ann Secondary 2-0 (25-8, 25-13) in their final group match at the National B Division Girls’ Volleyball Championship. With both teams having won their previous two matches, it was up to this decider to determine whether they progress to the next round in first or second place.

B Division Girls’ Volleyball: Cedar edge past Hua Yi to keep qualification hopes alive; Presbyterian High earn spot in nationals 2nd round

Cedar Girls’ held off a late comeback by Hua Yi Secondary to win their first round Group D match 2-0 (25-17, 25-21)at the National B Division Girls’ Volleyball Championship. Hua Yi, the West Zone third runner up, on the other hand have essentially been knocked out of the tournament. In the later Group D match, Presbyterian High have assured themselves a spot in the next round of after seeing off St Hilda’s Secondary 2-0 (25-17, 25-15).

B Division Girls’ Volleyball: Dunman back on track after beating Xinmin in nationals

Dunman Secondary are back on track in their quest towards retaining their championship title after seeing off Xinmin Secondary 2-0 (25-20, 25-10) in their round one Group B match at the National B Division Girls’ Volleyball Championship. After an unfortunate loss to Jurong Secondary in their previous match, a win over Yuying Secondary in their next match will assure them a place in the next round.

B Division Girls’ Volleyball: Shuqun and Anderson earn spot in second round of nationals

Shuqun Secondary and Anderson Secondary have earned a spot in the second round of the National B Division Girls’ Volleyball Championship after winning their respective Group A matches. Shuqun saw off Queensway Secondary 2-0 (25-14, 25-21) while Anderson Secondary beat Dunman High 2-0 (25-17, 25-19). Both teams will meet on Tuesday March 8 to determine who will finish top of Group A.
