St. Andrew's Secondary sent two teams to the Singapore Youth Olympic Festival U17 Rugby 7s competition, and both teams helped earn the school first and third-placed finishes in the category.
Combining speed, strength and finesse, the ACS(I) boys rumbled their way to 31–0, 41–0 and 36–7 victories over SAJC, RI and ACJC respectively.
Catholic High were led by a 15-point effort from Chua Kai Xuan (#11) and 13 and 12 points from Gideon Lam (#8) and Evan Teh (#10) respectively. North Vista's Dorian Chin (#9) and Sim Yi (#5) contributed 16 and 14 points respectively.
Patricia Orenza (#7) led the former South Zone champions with a game-high 22 points, while Mabel Anton (#6) had 16 points. Xie Mu Qi (#11) led Yishun Town with 16 points.
Navanee Lingam, Chiang Jia Xuan, Clarice Tan, Chelsea Eng and Koh Hwee Ching of Siglap U16 clinched the Under-17 title, while Sim See Min, Ng Yong Yi, Nabilah and Carissa Chan of BCNSY were the Under-15 victors.
Representing SKC, the trio of Vignesh Rengarajan, Shiek Ridwan and Jeryl Neo hooped their way to the Under-17 boys' title, while Cheng Ye Hui, Lavin Raj, Dinesh and Xavier Ng of Dream Team were the Under-15 victors.
The Football 7s competition of the Singapore Youth Olympic Festival was a hit among youth, seeing participation from 11 teams in the Under-14 category and 18 teams in the Under-17 category.
