Both Singaporeans go through to the quarter-finals of the men's singles in the badminton tournament after seeing off their Vietnamese and Cambodian opponents.
Singapore's mixed doubles pair of Danny Bawa Chrisnanta and Vanessa Neo bow out in the round of 16 after losing in straight sets to the Malaysian duo Chan Peng Soon and Goh Liu Ying.
Team Singapore's badminton representatives enjoyed mixed fortunes in the men's doubles today, with one team making it through to the quarter finals and the other getting booted out of the competition.
Liang Xiaoyu won 2–0 while teammate Grace Chua lost by the same score. With this, the former qualifies for the quarter-final while the latter leaves the competition.
Singapore settled for a joint-bronze after losing 0–3 to Thailand in the semi-final of the women's badminton team event.
The Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC) has released the list of athletes representing Singapore at the upcoming 28th SEA Games. There will be a total of 748 athletes and 230 officials representing 36 sports from Singapore.
Singapore won four gold, six silver and 15 bronze medals at the 17th edition of the Games.
