A penalty by Morgan Owain Rhys (#10) was all it took to help the Saints overcome closest rivals ACS(I), sending a clear message to the defending champions that they were not the same team from previous season.
Javille Goh (#13) led RI with two tries, both of which came in the first half. Despite the loss, Ryan Galistan (#13), who is only in his first year at ACS, stood out from the field as he anchored the comeback attempt with his nifty footwork and impressive runs.
Before this game, Singapore went down 10–14 to Thailand in the preliminaries to lose out on a place in the final.

Singapore’s men will face Thailand next in their 3rd-placing match on 7 June, 3.50pm at Choa Chu Kang Stadium. The women’s team will be up against Thailand for their final at 4.15pm.
Singapore will go on to meet Philippines in their final preliminary game on 7 June, 11.40am.
