26%,of those who signed up to run 42km at the 2010 Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore did not finish the race. Organisers announced that 20,000 runners had signed up for the marathon but only 14,853 crossed the finish line, according to the results on the official website, www.marathonsingapore.com.
A calf strain did not stop Anne Date, 30, from finishing as the fastest Singaporean in Sunday's Singapore Marathon where she clocked 3:12:24. Elaine Lim was the second fastest in 3:23:21 while Jeradine Collett was third in 3:24:19.
Mok Ying Ren came home as the fastest Singaporean marathoner at the 2010 Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore. He shares with us about the race in his own words.
Mok Ying Ren was crowned Singapore's fastest marathoner when he ran a personal best of 2 hours 38 minutes and 28 seconds. Ying Ren made his marathon debut last year when he was also the fastest Singaporean last year in 2:43:42.
Kenyan Kenneth Mburu Mungara come home first in the Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore in a time of 2 hours 14 minutes and 6 seconds. He was followed closely behind by fellow Kenyans Thomas Cherogony and Vincent Krop in 02:14.32 and 02:14.57 respectively.
The revised prize structure will see the winners of the men’s and women’s Full Marathon open categories pocketing US$66,500 each, which is a substantial US$15,000 increase from previous editions.
