Past winners return to defend title at SAFRA Keppel Quadthlon

Singapore’s only four-discipline endurance race, the SAFRA Quadthlon, continues to attract a good mix of participants each year, ranging from seasoned athletes, young sports enthusiasts, corporate employees to families. Despite a busy Sunday with at least three other sports events held on the same day, the SAFRA Quadthlon still attracted more than 400 participants.

“Trail runners are a different breed of runner.” – An interview with Jeri Collett

Jeri Collett, 35, started out in triathlons and progressed to ultra-marathons in 2009. She is one of 35 runners slated to run 100km at the North Face 100 on October 9th. Training for a trail run in relatively flat Singapore is a challenge in itself, Jeri shared. Red Sports caught up with her about her love for trail and endurance running.

A love of nature drew Kenneth Koh, 45, to trail running. Kenneth, who took part in the Gobi March, a 250km desert ultra-marathon, in 2005, is planning an attempt to climb the North Ridge of Mount Everest from Tibet in the Spring of 2011, something no Singaporean has yet attempted.

A desire to lose weight for health reasons nine years ago set Terence Chiew, 34, on the path of endurance running. Since then, he's done many races, including a 333km race in Morocco in December 2009. Terence is one of 35 athletes slated to run 100km in the North Face 100 on October 9th. We catch up with Terence on what motivates him about endurance running.

5,500 runners take part in POSB Run For Kids 2010

More than 3,500 children took part in the POSB Run for Kids 2010 today to raise funds for other needy kids. They are among the 5,500 participants in the POSB charity event, now into its second year, which underscores the Bank’s commitment to children and fostering community ties. In all, the event raised $325,000 to help the less privileged children in Singapore.
