Butterfly specialist Joseph Schooling set a new men's national 100 metres Butterfly record when he clocked a time of 54.19 seconds at the evening finals on the second day of the 7th Singapore National Swimming Championships.
Quah Zheng Wen and Joseph Schooling set national under-17 records in the 400 metres Individual Medley and 50m Butterfly respectively.
Lionel, an Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) student, clocked a time of 1 minute 3.99 seconds to better his own mark of 1:04.06, registered at the Hong Kong Open last September. The time also broke his own championship record of 1:04.47 set last year.

16 year old Jeremy Kevin Matthews broke the men's national 400 metre Freestyle record when he finished second in the final at the Victorian Open Championships in Australia, clocking a time of three minutes, 59.41 seconds. The previous record was held by Marcus Cheah, who swam a 3:59.44 at the 25th South East Asian Games in Laos 13 months ago.
