C Div 3000m: Team spirit spurs HCI’s Jacob Tan and Dai Hexuan to 1-2 finish

"It doesn't matter who finished first or second. One-two finish is the best result for the team, and we will do anything to get it." In saying that, it is without a doubt that Hwa Chong Institution (HCI)'s Dai Hexuan held nothing but confidence as he and teammate Jacob Tan finished only four seconds apart during the C Division boys' 3000 metres final at the 60th National Schools Track and Field Championships. While the duo were taking turns throughout the race to lead the pack, Jacob concluded the race first in a winning timing of 10 minutes and 29.47 seconds. Following close behind were Hexuan and Raffles Institution (RI)'s Jonathan Tan, with timings of 10:33.62 and 10:35.66 respectively.

Singapore Open Track and Field: Chen Xiang rewrites 110m hurdles national record twice as Tia breaks national mark in triple jump

Going into the final of the Men’s 110 metres hurdles event, Ang Chen Xiang was looking to rewrite the national record for the second time at the 81st Singapore Open after clocking 14.27 seconds in the heats, which bettered his previous mark of 14.36s. But as he warmed up for the race, he did not even know if his body could make it to the finish line. “I went to the first hurdle (during warm-up), my calves started cramping so I was like I knew my body was starting to complain,” said Chen Xiang.
