Aussie domination at Ironman 70.3 Singapore 2008

In one of the closest finishes on the Ironman 70.3 circuit this year, AustraliaÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s Simon Thompson edged out Kiwi pre-race favourite Terenzo Bozzone by a mere 15 seconds to win the Ironman 70.3 Singapore 2008 in a time of 3:55:40, to make up for missing out on the Australian Olympic team for Beijing last month.

Singaporean triathlete Dinah Chan places first in U-23 elite race

Dinah Chan of Singapore placed first in the Under-23 elite category at the recently concluded Singapore International Triathlon last weekend. She finished the Olympic-distance triathlon (1.5km swim , 40km bike, 10km run) in a time of 2 hours 26 minutes and 16 seconds ahead of fellow Singaporean Jinah Woo (02:45:39).

Tham Chen Munn – an inspiring sporting Singaporean

Tham Chen Munn broke his left arm in three places at the Port Dickson International Triathlon in 2006. The accident left him with metal plates inside his body and 51 stitches. Despite this setback, he not only returned to swimming and running, he encouraged his colleagues to exercise, forming running clubs at work.

Sebastien Calle pips Clement Chow to win Singapore Sprint Series

Sebastien Calle rode the 20km bike route with a flat tyre but still managed to come from behind to win the Singapore Sprint Series triathlon yesterday at Changi Beach Park. In so doing, Sebastien, who finished in 1 hour 6 minutes and 51 seconds, also won the overall Series championship with a total of 586 points, outpointing his closest challenger Clement Chow, who finished the triathlon in second place (1:07:18). Clement finished just one point behind Sebastien with 585 points.

Into the deep…

The day I tore my ACL while playing football is forever seared into my memory. It was March, 2002. I jumped up to head a ball but a stronger opponent out-muscled me, sending me hurtling back to the ground while my left leg was fully extended. I heard two popping sounds echo inside my head. Then the most excruciating pain swept over me.
