B Division Girls’ Volleyball: Cedar Girls’ post upset against Shuqun in Round 2 of nationals

They were initially not fancied to qualify for the second round. They had also been widely expected to lose their first match in Round 2. Cedar Girls’ however proved all their naysayers wrong when they staged another upset by beating Shuqun Secondary 2-0 (25-19, 25-22) in their Group X, Round 2 match of the National B Division Girls’ Volleyball Championships.

B Division Girls’ Volleyball: Cedar Girls’ defeat Presbyterian High to deny St Hilda’s a place in second round of nationals

Few would have anticipated this result. But in a dramatic twist of fate, Cedar Girls’ made perhaps the biggest upset in the National Rounds so far when they beat Presbyterian High 2-0 (25-22, 25-19) in their final Group D match of the National B Division Girls’ Volleyball Championship. Their crucial win essentially denied St Hilda’s a place in the next round based on point difference. St Hilda’s, who were widely expected to progress together with Presbyterian High after beating Cedar Girls’ in their first match, were held 2-1 by Hua Yi (25-19, 21-25, 25-12) in their earlier match.

B Division Girls’ Volleyball: Jurong hold off Xinmin to top Group B; Dunman qualify for second round with win over Yuying

Jurong Secondary made a comeback in the second set to hold off Xinmin Secondary 2-0 (25-12, 25-21) in their final Group B match at the National B Division Girls’ Volleyball Championship. In the other group match, Dunman Secondary saw off Yuying Secondary 2-0 (25-7, 25-20) to earn a spot in the second round of the competition. With their win, Jurong take top spot in the group whereas Dunman finish second.

B Division Girls’ Volleyball: Fairfield Methodist sweep aside Ngee Ann to top Group C

Fairfield Methodist took top spot of Group C after seeing off Ngee Ann Secondary 2-0 (25-8, 25-13) in their final group match at the National B Division Girls’ Volleyball Championship. With both teams having won their previous two matches, it was up to this decider to determine whether they progress to the next round in first or second place.
