Victoria Junior College (VJC) won the highly anticipated preliminary match against Tampines Meridian Junior College (TMJC) by the skin of their teeth, with a final scoreline of 3-2. The win was crucial for VJC, ensuring their progress into the semi-finals of the National Schools A Division Football Girls’ Championship.
Raffles Institution (RI) scored the only goal of the match against St. Joseph's Institution (SJI) to move on to the semi-finals of the National Schools A Division Football Girls’ Championship. Scoring the deciding goal of the match, Milanpreet Kaur Bajwa (RI #13) said: "The match today was an important one for my team as it was a must-win for us, to keep our hopes of qualifying for the semi-finals alive."
Having won every single one of their matches throughout the season, it is of no surprise that Catholic High School (CHS) took home the crown for this year's National B Division Floorball Championship. However, unlike the complete dominance on the scoreboard like they had in earlier matches, Bedok South Secondary (BDS) put on a spectacular fight and threw the team off their feet by forcing a tight scoreline of 2-1 in favour of CHS in the final.
Raffles Institution (RI) faced little resistance from Millennia Institute (MI), crushing them with a final score of 10-0. With this win under their belt, Raffles is three for three: they have won all three of their games against SAJC, SJI, and MI. All three of their games have been indisputable victories with no goals scored against them. "I think we came into this game with a strong mindset. Even though we had already qualified for the semis, we felt it was important to keep the momentum going," said Raffles captain Raziq Noor (#9). Raffles certainly started the game strong, earning themselves a short corner on the MI goal within the first 40 seconds. They continued to play aggressive, scoring their first goal in the eighth minute.
For a historic first time, Methodist Girls' School (MGS) swept two out of a possible two divisional titles at the National Schools Cross Country Championships. MGS secured the championship in the Girls' B and C divisions, both by small victory margins of five and nine points against nearest rivals Cedar Girls' and CHIJ St. Nicholas Girls' respectively. Guided by accomplished coach Steven Quek, the MGS girls' victories are historically only their third for each respective division, adding to the school's B Division triumphs in 2001 and 2008 and C Division triumphs in 2007 and 2013. This is also only the fourth time since 2000 that a school has swept both B and C girls' titles, replicating the feats of Commonwealth Secondary in 2002 and 2004 and Raffles Girls' School in 2015.
Having dropped out mid-race after a fall in last month's National Schools Track and Field 3000-metre final, Ferrell Lee of Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) was looking for redemption at the National Schools Cross Country Championships. Clocking a timing of 13 minutes 36.8 seconds over the 3.8-kilometre race route, Ferrell succeeded in sealing his comeback by winning the C Division boys' individual gold.
The Saints boys' hockey team defeated the St. Joseph's lineup 4-0 to secure a spot in the National A Division hockey semi-finals. While the SJI team played valiantly and never gave up, they had no choice but to reluctantly concede goal after goal to the relentless Saints attack.
Jurong Pioneer Junior College (JPJC) saw St. Joseph's Institution (SJI) off 3-0 in the preliminary round of the A Division Boys' Football Championships to rise to second on the table, cementing their position in the round of eight.
