En Ning's remarkable effort bettered Tia Rozario's national schools record of 5.66m, which was just set two weeks ago when she won the A division title for the Singapore Sports School. Before Friday, Tia also owned all three divisional long jump records. En Ning now owns two: the B girls and national schools.
For a moment, things looked quite bleak for Hwa Chong Institution's Ethan Cheong. Partly due to a poor choice of poles, he failed at the first two attempts at his opening height. It was not the way he wanted to round off his six-year journey as a schoolboy pole vaulter.
Yusof jumped 6.75 metres -- short of the 6.79 metres B boys championship record set by Tan Lin Keat in 1995, who was competing for Chinese High School. Hwa Chong Institution's Tedd Toh placed second after he jumped 6.53 metres, ahead of Singapore Sports School's Raeshon Loo who recorded 6.50 metres.
Wei Guan ran 14.61s while Randall settled for silver in 14.70s.
Marc clocked a timing of 15.20s, winning his ever National Schools gold medal.
Shu Han's 2 minutes 29.33 seconds was a cool five seconds faster than second-placed Kylie Tan, the 3000 metres and cross country champion from Cedar Girls' Secondary School. Harieharan came in a time of 2:09.74, emerging victorious after a titanic battle with Arian after both of them had pulled away from the leading pack.
Jeft clocked 14.73 seconds with a tail wind of 0.1 metre/second in the final, ahead of National Junior College's Ken Hayashi and Victoria School's Gabriel Lee, who both posted 14.98 seconds in a photo finish.
