The Singapore pairing of Jiang Yanmei and Li Yujia have been knocked out of the women's badminton doubles quarter-finals by South Korea's Lee Hyo Jung and Lee Kyung Won, who are seeded 4th, by a score of 21-15, 21-12.

Beijing Olympics update – Shuttler Ronald Susilo knocked out by Malaysia’s Lee Chong Wei

He tried and he battled but he still could not hold off Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia and eventually lost out 13-21, 14-21. There were a couple of minutes in the first set where it was Lee who was chasing Ronald, but there was to be no denying the Malaysia second seed as he found his stride with a couple of cross-court smashes and clever drop shots.

Beijing Olympics update: Swimmer Tao Li comes in fifth in 100m butterfly final

Tao Li finished fifth in the 100m butterfly this morning at the Beijing Olympics in a time of 57.99 seconds. This was slower than the Asian record time of 57.54sec she set yesterday in the semi-final.

Beijing Olympics update: Nicolette Teo fails to qualify in 100m breaststroke but improves on timing

Nicolette Teo of Singapore finished seventh in her heat in a time of 1 minute 10.75 seconds. Her time placed her 32nd out of 49 competitors and only the top 16 swimmers qualified for the semi-finals.

Beijing Olympics update: Swimmer Bryan Tay wins 200m freestyle heat in new national record time

Bryan Tay of Singapore won his 200m heat in a time of 1 minute 50.41 seconds but failed to qualify for the semi-finals. His time was also faster than his personal best of 1:53.26 set two years ago in Singapore.
