Catholic High School (Primary) won their first ever Senior National Boys' Basketball Championship when they beat perennial powerhouses Kranji Primary 46–39 in the final.
Kranji Pri rode on a 19-10 run in the fourth quarter to pull away decisively for a 51-39 win over Teck Ghee Pri.
Kranji Primary showed their basketball pedigree when they defended both their junior and senior boys' titles on the same day. The junior boys team beat Chua Chu Kang Primary 63-36 while their seniors repeated the winning feat with a 46-22 victory over Anderson Primary.
Going into the final national inter-primary basketball first round game with their backs to the wall, the Chua Chu Kang Primary boys produced a gutsy display to pip Teck Ghee Primary 48-47 for their group's first placing.
Most may not have noticed, but in the midst of the hustle and bustle of inter-school A, B and C Division competitions, the primary schools scene is alive and kicking as well.
