Singapore Sports School's (SSP) Olivia Sallit bagged the gold in the C Division Girls' 800 metre final, while Mervyn Ong of Nan Hua High School (NHHS) emerged victorious in the C Division Boys' final.
In likely their final time competing in the event for Singapore Sports School (SSP), Tyeisha Rene Misson Khoo and Irsyad B Mohammad Said made it a swansong to remember as they struck gold in their respective B Division 400-metre hurdles finals.
In Secondary One, she finished third in the C Division 200-metres final. In Secondary Two and Three, she improved to finish second. This time, Bernice Liew of Nanyang Girls' High School (NYGH) topped the B Division Girls' 200m final at the 60th National Schools Track and Field Championships with a winning time of 26.02 seconds. Following just a few strides behind is Thaarani D/O Sivakumar of Singapore Sports School and Choo Hui Xin of Cedar Girls' Secondary, who secured a spot on the podium with timings of 26.34 and 26.57 respectively.
Ann Lee of Nanyang Girls High School (NYGH) bettered her personal best by one centimetre with a winning jump of 5.11 metres in the Girls’ B Division Long Jump event to clinch gold. But the highlight of the long jump event, according to Ann was not so much her win but the persistent disturbance of a white bird at the track. The white bird would periodically swoop towards some of the long jump participants and even forcing the officials to restart the jump countdown for some of the girls.
