A spirited NTU overcame their traditional rivals in three tightly contested sets to clinch their first title in four years.
In a game that went all the way to five sets, NTU eked out a 3-2 win over three-time champions SIM to clinch their first ever title.
Both teams made mistakes. But NTU had fewer of them, which eventually helped them to a 3-1 win over an equally matched NUS, earning them their second straight win.
Lu Zuokun (#3) stood out on both ends, spiking and roofing his way to keep NUS ahead. Likewise, NTU counterpart Johner Tham (#5) was also similarly effective, but lacked a little support from his team-mates.
NTU's Lim Jia Min (#6) finished the game with a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds, to go with seven dimes and five steals.
Stellar defending helped NUS defeat powerhouses NTU 5-1 in the final to clinch their first title since 2012.
Lim Jia Min (#6) led NTU with a well-rounded game, barely missing a double-double with nine points, seven boards and 11 assists, while SUTD enjoyed a 17-point effort from centre Sng Ei Jia (#14).
