A faster and more experienced Nanyang Technological University (NTU) demolished Singapore Institute of Technology 74-19 in their opening match of the Singapore University Games netball competition.
Edna Lim (NUS #9), Bernice Yeo (NUS #4) and Woon Wei Jing (NTU #12) were tied for game-high 14 points each.
Raymond Loo (NUS #10) hit a clutch three to give NUS the one point lead with less than a minute left to play. NUS went on to make clutch plays on both ends of the floor to secure their comeback victory.
Despite Peter Soo's (SMU #14) game-high 17 points, NTU's balanced scoring and defense gave them their home victory.
This was their first IVP title since 2009, and their win also stopped SIM from winning a fifth straight championship.
SIM were down by as many as 10 points in the second quarter, before clawing their way back to eventually win 68-62.
Shermaine See (NTU #7) made four 3-pointers to record a game high of 14 points. Foo Yuan Ru (SP #11) scored a team high of eight points.
SIM started its title defence with an 83-61 victory over RP while NTU saw off TP 64-56.
