The previous age group mark was held by Brilliant Chua when he clocked a time of 2:27.84 at the 36th South-east Asian Age Group Swimming Championships. Dynes smashed the record by 0.84 seconds, and also took a massive three seconds off his 2:30.17 PB.
Daphne Tan and Elizabeth Lee, both of Raffles Girls School, made up the rest of the podium.
Singapore Sports School’s Ryan Wee came in five seconds later to clinch second in a new personal best of 2:13.97, while Raffles Institution’s Jerome Sunil Kwang was third with 2:16.77.

Singapore Sports School (SSP)'s Kugapriya d/o Chandran passed Ahmad Ibrahim Secondary (AIS)'s final runner with 150m to go, and they went to win in a time of 4 minutes 12.77 seconds.
