History was made in the 58th National Inter-School Cross Country Championships when unfancied Nan Hua High School clinched the B Division Girls’ team title and brought home its first ever cross country championship.
It came down to each school’s fourth-fastest B Division runner – ACS(I) had Joshua Loo in 11th, while HCI’s George Lai was 15th.
Koh Dun Xian (VJC #5) snatched a hat-trick to rocket his team to victory in the third/fourth placing match.
Ayesha Saadiqah (#10), Ariane Vanco (#25), Jaime Lim (#11), Audrey Tey (#9) and Carissa Ng (#14) led VJC to victory with a goal apiece, while CJC captain Rachel Tan (#22) scored the only goal for CJC.
Silas Choe (#11), Foo Jun Wei (#17), Marcus Chua (#23), Teo Chee Hao (#76) and Tng Zong Wei (#88) fired RI to victory with a goal apiece.
YJC qualified for the final for the third time in four years, after they hung on for a 3-2 victory over VJC.
A brace by Claresta Yeo (#9) and a goal each from Gene Leck (#14), Heather Lee (#23) and Sarah Phua (#7) saw VJC emerge comfortable winners.
