During the preliminary rounds of the North Zone ‘B’ Division, Red Sports came across a talented footballer by the name of Andy Ahmad whose skill lit up the field of play. Andy not only impressed with his excellent performance on the field, he also showed maturity in temperament. Even though he was on the receiving end of a few ferocious tackles, he always got up and got on with the game and never retaliated. This showed class, quality and humility. We therefore decided it was worth the time to interview Andy after the game between his school, Si Ling Secondary and Seng Kang Secondary. Seng Kang won the game 3-0 to knock Si Ling out of the competition.

Coach: From what we have seen today, you are our man of the match. You have speed, movement, good control, ability to pass or shoot, tenacity and most importantly, you have passion.Your school should be proud of you even though your team lost earlier. What level are you in now?
Andy: This year, I’m in sec 4.
Coach: Who is your team coach?
Andy: Mr Hatta who is from S-League Club Woodlands Wellington.
Coach: And your previous primary school?
Andy: I was from Si Ling Primary.
Coach: How many goals have your team scored in the tournament, so far?
Andy: Two goals, all scored by me.
Coach: Have you been invited by any youth club to play for them?
Andy: Yes, at 14 years old, I was with the SAF Centre of Excellence.
Coach: When you have a chance to play for an S-League Club, which would you choose and Why ?
Andy: Home United because they have many good players like Indra Sahdan.
You could be right. Perhaps we got the info about his age wrong.
In any case, any coach would choose Andy Ahmad for his side if he ever saw Andy on the pitch. Awesome.

the FAS did not allow one of the trialists at my club who is 14 to be registered as the COE is strictly only for 15 and above, how did andy ahmad do it?!
Centre of Excellence is strictly only for 15 yr old onwards, no way andy ahmad could have featured in COE for any of the clubs. if so, how?!
