Beijing, Wednesday, August 13, 2008 – The Singapore women’s table tennis team beat Nigeria this evening to win their second game in a row. They had beaten the United States in the morning and now look set to top their table to qualify for the knockout round.

Feng Tianwei dispatched Bose Kaffo 11-3, 11-4, 11-2 in a brief 11-minute game and Li Jia Wei then followed that up with a slightly longer 14 minute outing with a 11-7, 11-7, 11-6 demolition of Cecilia Otu Offiong.

Wang Yue Gu then teamed up with Li Jia Wei to take on Funke Oshonaike and Cecilia Otu Offiong and the Nigerians shocked everyone by winning the first game 15-13. However, that proved short-lived and the Singapore pair came back to win the next three games by identical scores of 11-5 to secure the overall victory for Singapore.
