Six players from the Under-17 national basketball team have apparently been shortlisted to represent Singapore in the 2010 Youth Olympics Games. The basketball event at the YOG is a 3-on-3 format.
There has been no official word from the Basketball Association of Singapore but the six players were called upon to shoot a segment for MediaCorp at the Singapore Basketball Centre recently with regards to the YOG.
The six are:
Goh Kong Tat (Catholic High)
Hubert Neo (New Town Secondary)
Jabez Su – (Catholic High)
Larry Liew – (North Vista Secondary)
Ng Weixiang – (Unity Secondary)
Russel Low – (Presbyterian High)
Last year, the BAS held a 3-on-3 competition which was billed as the selections for the YOG squad. However, there was no official announcement by the BAS about the winning team.
BAS charged teams to enter the selections for the YOG.
Red Sports understands that the players from that winning team were invited to train with the national squad but may not actually be in the YOG squad any more.
Ed’s note: If you know who won the 3-on-3 streetball competition, please let us know the names of the players. Thanks.
