CCAB, Friday, February 27, 2009 – Victoria School stunned defending champions Saint Andrew’s Secondary in a B Division Boys Hockey Championship quarter-final group game, beating them 3-0. With this victory, Victoria qualify for the semi-finals at the expense of St. Andrew’s.

Victoria started the game brightly by attacking at lightning speed to leave the Saints defense bamboozled and it was not long before Victoria broke the deadlock. After conceding an early goal, the Saint’s team suffered another blow when their inspirational captain went down with an injury to leave the team in disarray.

It was not long after that the Saints defense capitulated again.
After earning a short corner, Victoria captain, Mhd Haseef, took a powerful shot from the resulting set-up which the Saints goalkeeper saved brilliant.

However, the rebound fell back to Haseef when the defense failed to clear the ball. Given a second chance, Mhd Haseef took aim and drilled the ball into the bottom right corner of the Saints goal. This second goal was like a dagger into the Saints hearts.

When the second half commenced, the Saints fought back but failed to break through the Victorian defense on numerous times. In turn, the Victorians employed a counter-attacking strategy, hoping to catch the Saints on the break, which they eventually did.

In one moment of brilliance, the Victoria #14 picked up the ball from his own half, dribbled past four Saints defenders and rounded the keeper to score a brilliant solo effort.
